Self-Compassion Break for Dissertation Writers
Self-compassion is a useful tool to help manage the stress of dissertation writing. Self-compassion involves responding to difficult thoughts and feelings with kindness, sympathy and understanding so that we can comfort ourselves when we’re in distress. Research has shown that self-compassion can greatly enhance a sense of ease, well-being, and happiness.
This is a guided mindfulness meditation exercise that you can use whenever you’re feeling gripped by anxiety about dissertation writing -- or anything else that’s creating a sense of stress or pressure in your life. In this self-compassion break, you’ll be led through a series of steps to acknowledge your discomfort, recognize that you’re not alone in feeling this way and, finally, offer yourself some kindness and compassion.
